Fürth (dpa / lby) – SpVgg Greuther Fürth has improved its defensive personnel. As the Franconian second division soccer team announced on Monday, the Polish central defender Damian Michalski is coming. The 24-year-old changes from leaders of the first Polish league Wisla Plock to cloverleaf. Michalski signed a three-year contract with the table penultimate, which can be extended by another year. Both clubs have agreed not to disclose the transfer terms.
“In Damian we get an experienced and physically strong central defender who also has a lot of potential,” said managing director Rachid Azzouzi. In the Fürth defense, Sebastian Griesbeck and Gideon Jung, among others, are out.
Coach Marc Schneider said: “We are convinced that Damian can bring his qualities to our team and give stability to the defence. His size and his header power mean that he also exudes danger on the offensive.”
