Ering (dpa / lby) – five people were seriously injured in a traffic accident on a federal road in the Lower Bavarian district of Rottal-Inn. A 75-year-old man drove his car into the oncoming lane in a long right-hand bend near Ering on Sunday evening for reasons that have not yet been clarified and collided with a van, the police said. The force of the impact threw the driver’s car into a ditch. Both he and the four people in the van were reportedly taken to hospital with serious injuries. Both cars were destroyed, the property damage was estimated at around 30,000 euros, according to the police. The B 12 was closed for about four hours.
