The Blue Alert issued for a man police say shot at a police officer during a traffic stop at Wise County Sunday night was stopped, but the statewide manhunt for the suspected gunman is continuing.
Law enforcement officers statewide have been on the lookout for 43-year-old Royce Edward Wood because Sunday following a Rhome police officer had been taken during a traffic stop.
Wednesday afternoon, following the Blue Alert has been stopped, Wise County Sheriff Lane Akin affirmed that Wood isn’t in custody. Officials haven’t said why the alarm was canceled with the defendant on the run.
