Britney Spears tells herself. The American pop singer, freed from the controversial guardianship exercised by her father, will publish her autobiography in the fall, her publisher announced on Tuesday July 11. Titled The Woman In Me and billed as an “incredibly moving story of freedom, glory, motherhood, survival, faith and hope”, the book is expected in bookstores in the States United on October 24, said American publishing giant Simon
The pop star, revealed in her teens by the hit “Baby One More Time” then confirmed by the successes of “Oops!… I Did It Again” and “Toxic”, had been placed under legal guardianship in 2008, after having demonstrated psychological disorders.
Almost fourteen years later, and at the end of a publicized legal saga, a court in Los Angeles lifted this guardianship in November 2021, deemed “abusive” by the singer, to allow her to regain control of her personal life.
Written with “candor and humour”, Britney Spears’ Memoirs testify to the importance “for women to finally tell their stories, in their own words”, its publisher argued on Tuesday. “Are you ready”, added the singer on her Instagram account followed by more than 42 million subscribers.
