Six months ago, strangers entered the villa of Verona Pooth and her husband Franjo. To this day, the presenter is still shocked. No wonder, because the crime has not yet been solved – and it could stay that way.
The spectacular burglary in the villa of TV presenter Verona Pooth remains unsolved. The perpetrators were not identified and the investigation had been discontinued, said a spokeswoman for the Düsseldorf public prosecutor’s office at the request of the German Press Agency. There is still no trace of the loot – including, according to Pooth, her wedding jewelry.
As surveillance recordings suggest, which Verona Pooth himself made public after the burglary, four perpetrators were involved in the coup on Christmas Eve 2021 in the Düsseldorf suburb of Meerbusch. Among other things, the strangers took the safe with them, which they put in Pooth’s small car – and with it they disappeared.
In a conversation with the “Bild” newspaper, Verona Pooth thought at the time that there were five perpetrators. “They came into the house and cut everything short and small,” she described the situation. Among other things, the stairs, the dressing room, the bathroom and the furniture were broken. “I have a bit of that kind of nightmares, because of course you’re terribly afraid that they’ll come back again,” the newspaper quoted the 54-year-old as saying.
The presenter reported the burglary again on Instagram just a few days ago. “You don’t feel as safe at home as you used to,” said Pooth. So she had a new door made with bulletproof glass. “No burglar can get in there anymore,” she said in an Instagram story.
Even if the Pooth case has been filed, the investigation would be resumed immediately if there were new clues, the spokeswoman for the public prosecutor’s office emphasized. According to earlier police reports, around Christmas there had been several burglaries in the Meerbusch villa district. It is unclear whether the perpetrators knew who their prominent victim was.
