A mountaineer in his 50s died this Friday after suffering a fall in Sedo de la Padierna, on the slope towards Vega de Liordes, within the municipality of Posada de Valdeón (León), according to data from the 112 Castilla y León Emergency Service.
The events occurred minutes before 1:53 p.m. this Friday, when the operations room of 112 Castilla y León received a call requesting assistance for a mountaineer who had been left unconscious after suffering a fall in Sedo de la Padierna, a space that is part of one of the routes to Collado Jermoso.
The person making the call explained that the injured man was in a steep area that emergency teams could only access by air.
The emergency center notified the Civil Guard (COS) of León and the emergency coordination center (CCE) of the Junta de Castilla y León, from which the Rescue Group of the Junta de Castilla y León was mobilized, whose rescue helicopter left for Posada de Valdeón.
Once at the scene, the rescue team descended from the helicopter, using a crane, to the place where the injured mountaineer was, who was a man of about 50 years of age, and it was found that he had indeed died.
