It is well known that the cat is a nocturnal animal that enjoys wandering outside the house as soon as the sun has set. It is therefore common for a cat that is locked up at night to experience “crazy periods” and start meowing, dropping objects: in short, he has energy to spare.

The most important point is therefore obviously to offer your cat the possibility of going out during the night, in particular thanks to a cat flap allowing him to come and go as he pleases. However, if you don’t have an outdoor space, consider offering your cat activities that he can do day and night: toys, cat trees, or simply a cap. A busy cat is a calm cat.

It is also important to know that if your cat scratches at the door and meows very loudly, reprimanding it is useless and will even make the situation worse: indeed, your cat is only waiting for one thing and that is for you to react. Whether your reaction is negative or positive, he will have gotten what he wants. Break the vicious circle and stop answering his calls at night, do not leave the bedroom for example and ignore him.

With these few common sense tips, your cat will no longer have the need or the desire to meow at night.
