Because Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has contracted a serious infection, the band has had to postpone concerts on their “Music of the Spheres” world tour until next year. The management did not give any details about the disease. But Martin was ordered to rest for three weeks.

The British band Coldplay has postponed several concert dates of their tour. The reason is a severe lung infection in singer Chris Martin, as the band announced on social media and on their website. “It is with great regret that we are forced to postpone our upcoming shows in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo to early 2023. Due to a serious lung infection, Chris has been ordered to rest strictly for the next three weeks by a doctor,” the statement said.

According to the tour schedule, Coldplay would have played eight concerts in Brazilian cities from October 11th to 22nd. It will then only continue on October 25th in Argentina. “We are working to set the new dates as soon as possible and will provide more information over the next few days,” Coldplay continued.

The band apologizes for the disappointment and inconvenience to everyone who was looking forward to these concerts. The musicians are “very grateful for your understanding at this difficult time when we have to prioritize Chris’ health”. Fans should keep their tickets – these are also valid for the newly scheduled dates.

Martin’s band members were “optimistic that Chris will recover after the mandatory medical break”. And further: “We look forward to resuming the tour soon”. A spokesman for the band said “Billboard” that there was “no further information about Martin’s illness”. Exactly what it is is not known.

Coldplay are currently in the middle of their “Music of the Spheres” world tour. In Germany, the band could only be seen live in the summer of 2022. In May 2023, the musicians will come to Europe again – however, no further concerts are planned in Germany.
