Infections with Covid-19 in Wales have been increasing for five weeks in a row.
According to the Weekly Swab Survey from the Office for National Statistics, one in twenty people had Covid.
In Wales, an estimated 149,700 people had Covid during the week ending July 1, 4.93% more than the 106,000 people who had Covid the week before.
Currently, however, the number of patients admitted to acute hospitals for testing positive is at its highest level since April.
According to Daily Data from Digital Health and Care Wales, more than half of those with Covid were admitted to hospital. 88% of Covid patients are admitted to hospital to treat another condition.
A&E attendances at this time of the year are also well above average, according to health officials.
Dr Frank Atherton, chief medical officer for Wales, stated that there are a lot of people who are sick. This includes in health care and social services.
However, intensive care units did not see as many people with Covid in their hospitals than they did earlier during the pandemic. The death toll from Covid was also lower.
Every week, ONS collects swabs from thousands in Wales. This is part of an ongoing survey.
It calculates the likelihood of infection in the community based on the results.
According to ONS, infections affect one in 25 people in England and one in 17 in Scotland.
This has been the best tool to determine how many people have Covid since the end in March of mass PCR testing.
Public Health Wales statistics also show that positive lateral flow test results have doubled in just two weeks with 6,873 positives in the 40-59 age group.
