On election day, Spain will not only focus its attention on the national territory, because the Ministry of Defense will have its eyes on Ukraine. That day the field hospital donated by Spain will arrive in Zelenski’s country. It is a reinforced hospital, with capacity for emergency surgery, essential postoperative facilities, pharmacy, sterilization, laboratory and two hospitalization modules.

This was announced by Margarita Robles during the fourteenth meeting of the Ramstein Contact Group. These are monthly meetings sponsored by the US Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, for the allies to pool their contributions to Ukraine.

The Minister of Defense has announced, in addition to the arrival of the field hospital, the next shipment of the four Leopard tanks pending delivery to Ukraine. Pedro Sánchez promised a dozen armored combat vehicles on his second visit to kyiv. Spain had initially committed six armored vehicles, which arrived at the front a few months ago. Now, next week, a maritime shipment will leave with the four cars pending delivery, in addition to ten armored personnel carriers and several all-terrain armored vehicles, light trucks and ambulances after their respective tune-ups.

Robles also announced the shipment throughout the summer of a new shipment with light weapons and heavy-caliber ammunition. Finally, the minister highlighted the importance of the Toledo Training Coordination Center, where to date nearly ninety percent of the 2,000 committed annual troops have been trained. Spain provides basic training for newly recruited soldiers and specific training for career military personnel in handling weapons donated by Spain.
