An Egyptian businessman was formally accused this trafficking in persons who had abused several minors from an orphanage he had founded with that purpose, the General Prosecutor’s Office of Egypt reported.
“The Public Ministry ordered to refer the defendant, Mohamed Al-Amin (…) to the Criminal Court, for trafficking in persons of seven girls and attack against his modesty through the use of strength and threats,” said dependence on
a statement.
The case of Mohamed Al Amin, with businesses in the real estate sector and owner of several media as a news agency and a television channel, indignated Egyptian public opinion when it was arrested provisionally a month ago to know the testimonies
Of some of his alleged victims.
After several weeks of research, the Attorney General concluded that “the defendant housed the girls victims in a home that had established for orphans with the intention of, taking advantage of their weakness and necessity and the authority he had about them, exploiting them sexually.”
As in a Dickensian nightmare, the Amin agred about girls using “the strength and threats to satisfy their wishes” and came to threaten some of them “with hitting them and expelling them from the center if they denounced it,” he said.
This orphanage, already closed, was in the city of Beni Suaf, located in northern Egypt, about 100 kilometers south of Cairo.
The accusation is based on the testimonies of 13 witnesses, including the victims, as well as in information obtained from the defendant’s mobile phone, in which their photos were found with some of the victims, and reports of forensic doctors, psychologists and social workers.
The Prosecutor’s Office also obtained an audio recording of a conversation between the Amin and some of the girls from which he abused on those who commented on the details of the aggressions.
