The actuation of the rapper Travis Scott at the Music Festival AstroWorld in Houston (Texas, USA) ended Friday night in Tragedy when a crowd began to push towards the stage, which broke panic and ended with at least eight deceased people
between 14 and 27 years old, in addition to about 300 injured.
The big question right now is what caused the crowd to be thrown into the stage.
That issue does not have an answer yet, although this Saturday already started going out in light of what happened.
Friday night, some 50,000 people came to the Sports and Leisure Complex NRG Park to enjoy a Rapper Travis Scott concert, originally from Houston and who, in 2018, launched an album called ‘AstroWorld’ and founded the Music Festival of the
same name.
On the 21.15 local time (02.15 GMT on Saturday), the crowd began to push in the stage of the stage, explained the early Saturday at a press conference of Houston’s firefighters, Sam Peña.
The avalanche of people untied panic, caused fights between attendees and some lost consciousness, Peña explained.
As a result, 25 people were hospitalized, of which 11 were at cardiac arrest, according to Peña.
At least five of the 13 people who continue hospitalized are minors, as reported by Mayor Houston.
According to Peña, many of the attendees had to receive medical assistance in the same place of the facts, where a campaign hospital has been raised that has already attended some 300 people.
The organizers of the Festival “AstroWorld” had medical equipment at the place of facts;
But, once the avalanche and panic began, they saw themselves “quickly exceeded,” Peña explained.
One of the concert attendees, Madeline Eskins, a profession nurse, talked this Saturday with the CNN and described the experience within the enclosure.
Eskins, who came to the event with her boyfriend, explained that people began to push on stage as soon as Scott began the performance of him and, at once, began to feel how his body was compressed.
“I felt a constant pressure on my chest, a constant pressure on my back. On one side, they were crushing me, I tried to raise my arms to try to open up space, but it did not work,” he narrated.
The pressure increased when Scott began to act and Eskins lost knowledge intermittently, so he could not see what happened but he could feel people crowding.
The next thing he remembers is that someone grabbed her, made her pass through a fence and sat it in a chair, where she lost her consciousness again, to wake up later in a different area and with a bottle of water in her lap.
On Saturday, in a statement on Twitter, the organizers of the AstroWorld Festival announced the cancellation of all the concerts scheduled for Saturday.
They affirmed that their “heart is with the family of the festival”, especially those who have lost their loved ones, and assured that they are in communication with local authorities to help them in research.
In addition, Scott said he was “absolutely devastated” by the tragedy.
“My prayers go to families and towards those shocked by what happened at the AstroWorld Festival,” he wrote in a statement.
Local authorities have created a family reunification center at a hotel to help those who are still looking for their loved ones and, in addition, they have created a telephone line assistance.
It is still unknown what caused the avalanche and the head of the local police of Houston, Troy Finner, has urged Houston’s neighbors not to draw precipitated conclusions about what happened.
“I think it’s very important that none of us speculate, nobody has all the answers tonight,” Finner said at the press conference that the authorities gave at the Sabbath.
The Mayor of Houston, the Democrat Sylvester Turner, said this Saturday in a CNN interview that the causes of tragedy are still being investigated;
While the Governor of Texas, the Republican, Greg Abbott, has offered help to local authorities to accelerate the investigation.
