A woman was stabbed by her ex-boyfriend Friday at a bus station in Cocoa, police said.

Multiple people called 911 about 8:30 p.m. after the man stabbed a woman at the Space Coast Area Transit bus station on Varr Avenue, just south of King Street, said police spokeswoman Yvonne Martinez.

The victim, who wasn’t identified, was able to tell officers what happened before she was taken to an area hospital. She’s currently in stable condition, Martinez said.

Other witnesses also described the suspect, who police discovered was the victim’s ex-boyfriend, Martinez said

Police say the pair had been arguing before the stabbing and the incident was a result of domestic violence.

Martinez said the woman had a protective order against the suspect due to past violence.

Officers found the suspect, who also wasn’t identified, about a block away and arrested him.

No other information was immediately released.
