Facebook has announced new controls on their platforms to protect children and adolescents and thus cope with the reputational crisis that crosses after one of its expensive accusing the signing to hide that these platforms are harmful to minors.
Specifically, the company will launch tools to encourage young people to not abate or notify them that it is not good for them to repeatedly see the same content.
They are measures announced on Sunday by the Vice President of International Affairs of Facebook, Nick Clegg, and today collected by various means, which interpret this initiative as an attempt to stop the criticisms received by the Technology.
CLEGG also explained that Facebook has recently suspended its plans to develop Instagram Kids, aimed at preadolescent, and that was introducing new optional controls so that adults can supervise adolescents.
Its statements occur after last Tuesday, Facebook’s ex-operation, Frances Haugen declared in the US Senate that the company pretends its benefits to the safety of users and hides that their platforms are harmful to minors, encourage social division
and weaken democracy.
Haugen, who previously filtered the company’s internal documents to the Wall Street Journal, made before the Senate a ruthless portrait of the company, because during the time he was working on it he realized a “devastating truth”: Facebook Hidden information to the public
and governments.
“The documents that I have provided to Congress prove that Facebook has deceived the public repeatedly about what their own research reveals about the safety of children, the effectiveness of their artificial intelligence and their role to expand dividing and extremist messages”,
said.
