RMC information states that two Franprix stores (Casino) continue to sell pizzas made from the Fraich’Up range of Buitoni pizzas, despite being subject to a product recall procedure for over three months. On Tuesday, the group responded by saying that it was “rechecking all its stores.”
RMC explains that Richard Legrand was the lawyer representing victims’ families who filed a complaint against Buitoni, Nestle group, over contamination of industrial pizzas with E.coli bacteria. He was alerted. According to media reports, one of the pizza stores that continues to sell affected pizzas is “very close” to the Champs-Elysees while the other is “in the middle of Paris”.
Franprix, in a press release, accused the managers at the two stores not having “respect[ed] the procedure for the recall” and having “overridden security measures that were put in place”. The sign states again, “They committed an egregious offense that we strongly condemn.”
She promises that she will use “sanctions commensurate to the severity of the situation” and has installed a “visual verification program in 100% of stores”, which will be “re-checked within 48hrs” to ensure that the recall procedure remains fair. Buitoni pizzas are believed to have caused the deaths of two children. A judicial investigation was opened in order to determine whether there were any involuntary injuries involving 14 people or involuntary murder of one person. Also, the marketing of a product that is dangerous for the health or endangerment other than their own.

According to health authorities, there were 56 cases in total, with two children who died, of which one was from the same bacteria. The investigations also “confirmed that there was a connection between the occurrences of these grouped cases and the consumption frozen pizzas from Buitoni’s Fraich’Up range.”
