After the Conference League draw, German coach Michael Boris is looking forward to a possible play-off duel with Hungarian club Fehérvár FC against Bundesliga club 1. FC Köln. “It would be a brutal feeling that you can hardly describe,” Boris told the “Kölnische Rundschau”: “An absolute top lot for me personally – even if it’s not about me, of course. From a purely sporting point of view, 1. FC would be Cologne is not the easiest task for us.”

47-year-old Boris was born in Bottrop then the U21 took over. He has been training Fehérvár since February 2022. With Hungary he still has to beat Moldova’s Petrocub Hincesti in another qualifying round before he would meet Cologne in the playoffs on August 18th and 25th.

The first leg in Germany in particular would be a special event for Boris. “I kind of had the feeling beforehand that it would be 1. FC Köln,” he said: “Once I played with Germania Windeck in the DFB Cup against Schalke 04 in the RheinEnergie Stadium. It was a fantastic experience that I would like to experience again.”
