Minutes before ten at night, the second Airbus A330 of the Air and Space Army from Israel touched down at the Torrejón Air Base. The 220 people who were on board thus ended five days of anguish caused by the Hamas terrorist attacks and the Ministries of Defense and Foreign Affairs completed an evacuation that lasted 36 hours and managed to remove 449 citizens from the country.

At ten in the morning on Tuesday, October 10, the Twitter of the Spanish Embassy in Israel asked all citizens who were passing through the country and without the possibility of leaving to contact them. The evacuation had begun. After obtaining the pertinent security permits, at a quarter to four in the afternoon an Air Force plane left Torrejón.

It arrived in Madrid in the early hours of October 11 with 209 people: 185 Spaniards, 7 EU citizens, 5 Ibero-Americans and 12 from third countries. In total, Spain has evacuated 429 people out of the half a thousand that it estimated it would have to bring to our country.

The aircraft took off from the Torrejón de Ardoz Air Base yesterday at eight in the morning and touched down in Tel Aviv just after twelve. He was scheduled to return to Spain at three in the afternoon, however, the launch of missiles from Gaza towards Tel Aviv activated level V disruption, which forced air traffic to be closed and any takeoff or landing to be postponed. The citizens remained in the midst of this uncertainty for more than two hours, until the plane finally obtained a security slot to take off at five in the afternoon.

With this flight, the Operations Command of the Ministry of Defense completes another evacuation operation that began last Tuesday. In Israel there are still Spaniards with fixed residence in the country, including diplomatic personnel. Around ten thousand people with Spanish passports are registered at the consulate. For now, they will remain in the country in the hope that the conflict will end.
