The etarra Zigor Merodio Larraona has been released from prison this Thursday in France after spending 13 years in prison, as reported by the association of relatives of the prisoners of the terrorist organisation, Etxerat.

Merodio has left this morning the penitentiary centre of Mont-de-Marsan, located in the department of The Landes, about 140 kilometers from the border, which was moved in October of 2018.

Zigor Merodio (Bilbao, 1976), member of the device of extortion from ETA, was arrested in 2006 in Bordeaux (France) , next to Kiskitza Gil de San Vicente Gurrutxaga, after suffering a traffic accident while fleeing a routine control of the Gendarmerie of france.

Merodio has been the subject of four convictions in France, the highest of them to twelve years in prison for the theft of a car in an armed robbery and the kidnapping for three hours by the owner of the other vehicle, although he was acquitted of the crime of extortion of which they were accusing him in the trial held in 2008.

Zigor Merodio has been received this Friday morning in the border town of Irun by a group of friends.
