The Civil Guard has reported a 21-year-old driver, investigated for an alleged crime of reckless driving and one of driving at excessive speed, who recorded himself traveling at 229 km/h on a road in Vilalba (Lugo) with speed limited to a maximum of 90 km/h.
According to sources from the Lugo Command, the events occurred on the LU-120 highway (Vilalba-Paraxes), and the driver allegedly recorded himself with a mobile phone held in his left hand. The images show how the vehicle accelerates to a speed of 229 km/h, in “an area close to homes, passing several properly signposted dangerous intersections and crossing paths with at least one cyclist and two other vehicles.”
The Civil Guard has indicated that these events may “constitute the crime of reckless driving and driving at excessive speed”, contravening “the most basic safety regulations and with obvious risk” not only for the driver himself but for the rest of the users of the vehicle. route.
After a laborious investigation, the Civil Guard managed to identify the vehicle used and the alleged driver, who is being investigated as the alleged perpetrator of two crimes against road safety (reckless driving and driving at excessive speed).
The person investigated and the procedures carried out were made available to the investigating court of Vilalba (Lugo).
