“Marriage was never an issue for me in my entire life,” says Iris Berben. But that doesn’t mean the actress is unlucky when it comes to love – quite the opposite. In an interview, she now reveals why she can count herself twice as lucky.
For the second time in her life, Iris Berben has the right partner by her side, as she has now revealed. The actress talks to Johannes B. Kerner about her relationships on MagentaTV in a new episode of the talk show “Bestbestsetzung”, as a preview clip for the show shows.
“Twice in my life I was lucky enough to have a good partner by my side,” says Berben about her ex-boyfriend Gabriel Lewy and her partner Heiko Kiesow. “The first time it was over 30 years. And now it’s over 15 years.” You don’t take it for granted that twice in your life you’re really lucky enough to say: There was a good partner by your side. He’s by your side in an important and intense time of your life and has also shaped you.” , said the 72-year-old.
In addition, Berben explained that, of course, the separation was “painful”. You also develop together. “You go through many different ups and downs. It does something to you. And that’s perhaps why my long-term relationship with Gabriel Lewy ended in the fact that today he’s still really, really, really solid part of my life and has just become a very, very good friend.”
Iris Berben and Heiko Kiesow have been a couple since 2007, they met while filming. In an interview with Kerner, Berben again ruled out a wedding: “I was never married, that won’t happen anymore.” In an interview with the magazine “Bunte” in September, the actress had already said: “Marriage was not an issue for me in my whole life.” For her, “the subject of marriage is also too conservative.” There are “so many bourgeois clichés that I can’t hide,” says Berben, who has a son, film producer Oliver Berben.
