Gießen (dpa / lhe) – An alleged crash of a small plane in Gießen has turned out to be a successful emergency landing. Witnesses had initially reported by emergency call on Sunday afternoon that the plane had crashed, as the police in Gießen announced on Sunday. The uninjured 72-year-old pilot and his ultralight biplane were then found in a field.

He noticed problems with his machine after take-off. The engine lost a lot of power for reasons that were initially unclear, so that the pilot had to make a demanding emergency landing in a field. This succeeded without damage to the aircraft. The Federal Agency for Flight Inspection was informed of the incident, it said.
