Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) – According to a study, almost 450,000 people in Hesse will benefit from the increase in the minimum wage from October 1st. So many employees currently earn less than twelve euros an hour, as the German trade union federation DGB in Frankfurt announced on Tuesday based on calculations by the Economic and Social Science Institute (WSI) of the Hans Böckler Foundation, which is close to the trade union.
After that, the new lower wage limit will primarily help women and those in marginal part-time employment. The hospitality industry, delivery services and retail are particularly affected. However, according to the DGB, many employees across all sectors still do not receive the statutory minimum wage. More controls are needed.
