Frankfurt / Main (dpa / lhe) – New men’s shirts served as a drug hiding place: A trial against a 31-year-old suspected drug courier has been underway in the Frankfurt Regional Court since Monday. The accused landed in Frankfurt with a suitcase in March of this year. Coming from Sao Paulo, the journey should continue towards South Africa. However, a drug sniffer dog struck when examining the piece of luggage. Customs investigators discovered 11.6 kilograms of cocaine hidden in sealed packages of shirts.
On the first day of the trial, the defendant made a comprehensive confession, citing financial problems as the background. The customers promised her the equivalent of around 1,400 euros in courier wages. The public prosecutor then applied for a prison sentence of six and a half years, the defense attorney one “at the bottom”, without specifying exactly. The criminal court wants to announce the verdict on September 5th.
