Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) – In the process of alleged corruption in the Frankfurt school building administration, the main defendant made a comprehensive confession on Monday before the Frankfurt Regional Court. The 44-year-old former clerk stated that between April 2019 and April 2021 he received 146,000 euros in cash and various benefits from two cleaning companies. In return, he campaigned for the award of special cleaning orders and enabled the building cleaner (50), who was also accused, to bill the city excessively.

According to the indictment, the cleaning company made additional sales of around 650,000 euros. At the beginning of the trial, the court made a suggestion to the accused to shorten the trial. The school building manager should therefore receive a prison sentence of up to four years, the entrepreneur one of up to two years and three months. Both the accused and the public prosecutor’s office did not agree to this at first.

The criminal proceedings against the second cleaning contractor had been discontinued against the background of a prison sentence for undeclared work. He is to be heard as a witness in the current trial. The criminal court has already scheduled hearing days until March.
