Frankfurt/Wiesbaden/Limburg (dpa/lhe) – Demonstrations are taking place in several cities in Hesse this Friday (February 24) to mark the first anniversary of the Russian attack on Ukraine. Numerous organizations and alliances have called for events to show solidarity with Ukraine and call for an end to the war. The motto of the events is, among other things, “Stop the killing in Ukraine – for a ceasefire and negotiations”.

Already in the morning, the Hessian Prime Minister Boris Rhein (CDU) wanted to hoist the Ukrainian flag together with the Ukrainian Consul General Vadym Kostiuk as a sign of solidarity in Wiesbaden. In the early evening (6:00 p.m.) in Frankfurt’s Paulskirche, there will also be a solidarity event with the Ukrainians who have fled to Hesse. In Frankfurt alone, more than 8,000 refugees from Ukraine are currently registered.
