Hünstetten (dpa/lhe) – Rescuers from the Rheingau-Taunus district dressed as Santa Claus, unicorn and superhero surprised residents of the Nesthäkchen children’s home in Hünstetten on Sunday afternoon. They roped down from the roof of the building to the windows and gave small gifts to the children and young people in need of care. With this surprise they should be offered a change from everyday life.
The height rescuers “suddenly floated in front of the residential group on a rope and brought us presents in a big sack,” reported facility manager Erik Gallasch. The children were very surprised and excited. “You could tell from the reaction how happy they were.”
According to information from the operator, 24 children and young people with severe and multiple impairments live in the three living groups of the house. Among other things, they depend on care beds and wheelchairs and need round-the-clock care. The sponsor is the association IFB Inclusion through funding and support based in Wiesbaden. Two years ago, the children’s home, which used to be called “Bärenherz”, moved from Heidenrod-Laufenselden to Hünstetten-Görsroth.
