Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) – More than 14,200 returnees from abroad found a new home in Hesse in the Corona year 2021. The number of Germans moving from abroad fell for the second time in a row, as reported by the State Statistical Office in Wiesbaden on Thursday. Most (737) found their way to Hesse from the USA last year. The second largest group came from Switzerland (589), followed by returnees from Great Britain (548).
Compared to 2020 (14,891 people), 627 fewer Germans came to Hesse last year, a decrease of four percent. Compared to the pre-Corona year 2019 (17,473), there were 18 percent fewer who moved.
