Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) – A fire in a Frankfurt paper disposal plant caused damage of more than half a million euros. As the police announced on Tuesday, a “mistake” probably triggered the fire in the plant in the Fechenheim district. This means that an item that does not belong there ended up in the waste paper container – such as a battery.
According to the information, the fire had spread to the conveyor belts, sorting machines and other machines on Monday afternoon before the fire brigade could extinguish it. “Since it is currently not assumed that arson was set, but this cannot yet be completely ruled out, the criminal police have started the investigation,” the officials said.
