Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) – A 23-year-old man has been sentenced to five and a half years in prison for a robbery in a pedestrian zone in Frankfurt. According to the district court, the defendant originally wanted to sell hashish to the later victim in September 2021 – but the transaction did not materialize due to different price expectations. Instead, he snatched his wallet with 730 euros and fled. The man who was stolen from behind him was beaten and beaten with pepper spray. The verdict is not yet legally binding.

Although the perpetrator was arrested quickly after the crime, the loot was never found. In court, the accused spoke of a “mix-up”. Based on witness statements, however, the criminal court assumed a protective claim and sentenced him on Wednesday to robbery theft. Because of the great brutality, it could not be assumed that the case was less serious, it said.
