London (dpa/lhe) – The Queen’s cook, Royal Chef Stefan Pappert (44), also provides Queen Elizabeth II with biscuits. “If she has to go to London, a little something is packed. We have a few cookies in our handbag. She has juice and water with her,” said the Fulda native of the German Press Agency. It is important to “keep supplying her with calories”. The German not only takes care of the physical well-being of the Queen, but also that of her house guests, for example at Windsor Castle.

The queen does not have a favorite meal “in that sense,” reveals Pappert, who has been cooking for the royals since 2017. “The Queen normally eats what anyone else would eat.” However, the eating habits of the 96-year-old monarch have changed somewhat in recent years. “We made the food a little saltier simply because the taste diminishes with age.” In addition, there are no more “giant plates”.

Pappert and his team have been preparing for the Queen’s 70th Jubilee celebrations (June 2-5) for months. Many relatives and well-wishers are expected.
