Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) – Of the organically managed agricultural areas in Hesse, permanent grassland accounts for the largest share at around 60 percent. Cereals (20 percent) and field fodder (12 percent) follow at a considerable distance, as can be seen from a response from the Ministry of Agriculture to a parliamentary question from the FDP parliamentary group.

According to the ministry, the data is based on a study that was carried out in 2020 and has not yet been completed. They covered around 115,160 hectares of organically farmed land. The Ministry put the total area in organic farming at 121,740 hectares for 2020.
