Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) – After the presentation of the draft for a new federal infection protection law, the state of Hesse still sees open questions. “Some points are still open, need to be examined or have to be negotiated in the coming weeks,” said the head of the Hessian State Chancellery, Minister of State Axel Wintermeyer (CDU), on Wednesday in Wiesbaden. “The conference of health ministers, for example, will also deal with the topic. So we are currently in the middle of the process. It is therefore still too early to make a final assessment.”
It is gratifying, however, said Wintermeyer, that the federal states “are more closely involved and that it is the declared goal of the federal government to develop a law jointly supported by the federal and state governments.” This will be used to “measure them in the interests of the citizens”.
The draft for the new Infection Protection Act presented by Federal Health Minister Karl Lauterbach (SPD) and Federal Justice Minister Marco Buschmann (FDP) on Wednesday provides, among other things, that a mask requirement should be possible again in shops or authorities from October. The federal states should make their own decisions about this.
