Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) – Two out of three households in Hesse have a gigabit-capable Internet connection. This puts the state in eighth place in a nationwide comparison, according to current figures from the Federal Ministry of Transport’s broadband atlas.
“With an increase of around 13 percentage points compared to the last survey from mid-2021 to more than 66 percent of households, we have taken a big dynamic step nationwide,” said Hesse’s Digital Minister Kristina Sinemus (CDU) on Wednesday. The households that have an internet speed of 1000 megabits per second or more are counted. The city states of Hamburg (98 percent), Berlin (96 percent) and Bremen (92 percent) occupy the first three places in the gigabit-capable broadband network.
