Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) – After resisting a police check while intoxicated with drugs, a man from Baden-Württemberg was sentenced to two years and nine months in prison in Frankfurt on Monday. The regional court assumed drug offences, a dangerous interference with road traffic and resistance to law enforcement officers and also confiscated a number of prohibited items. The verdict against the 50-year-old is not yet final.
The accused was noticed by a police patrol in January this year because he was sleeping in the driver’s seat of his car. When one of the officers reached through the window to remove the ignition key, the driver suddenly reversed and dragged the officer several meters with him. He remained unharmed. The police found 45 grams of drugs, 14,000 euros in cash, batons and pepper spray in the vehicle. The man made a full confession in court. The cash did not come from drug sales, but was part of the proceeds from the sale of a condo, he said. The court could not refute this statement and therefore refrained from confiscating the money.
