Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) – After cheating two expensive vacations in Greece and Spain, a woman was sentenced to one year’s suspended sentence by the Frankfurt district court. The court issued a corresponding penalty order against the 32-year-old on Tuesday after only the defendant’s defense attorney had appeared in court. The proceedings against the co-accused fiancé were dropped without further conditions due to minor guilt.
In June 2019, the accused had initially booked a five-day luxury trip to Crete with a check card and also started it together with the 30-year-old fiancé. The couple stayed in a five-star hotel and had their own swimming pool at their disposal, among other things. Just a month later, a trip to Barcelona, ??where a multi-day luxury vacation was also completed. Here, too, the account mentioned on the check card turned out to be insufficient. The tour operators suffered damage of more than 15,000 euros.
In court, the co-defendant present could not be proven that he knew about the fraudulent intentions of the woman. Therefore, the public prosecutor’s office also agreed to drop the case. In addition, the court ordered the collection of the amount of damage, which – if it can be paid – will be forwarded to the damaged organizers. The verdict is not yet legally binding.
