Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) – 1261 Hessian schools are offering all-day care in the current school year. A total of 41 schools were added to the all-day program at the start of the 2021/2022 school year, said Minister of Education Alexander Lorz (CDU) in response to a parliamentary question from the FDP parliamentary group in Wiesbaden. 736 out of 1095 elementary schools and associated elementary schools in Hesse worked full-time in a state program. At the other schools, municipal childcare facilities have been set up in almost all schools.
The Hessian state government is fundamentally well prepared for the legal entitlement to all-day care for grades 1 to 4, the Minister of Education assured. The annual expansion of 350 all-day positions planned by the state corresponds to the need that can be foreseen in the course of the legal entitlement to all-day care for primary school children up to the 2029/2030 school year. According to the federal law, the legal entitlement is to be introduced gradually from the 2026/2027 school year.
