Frankfurt (dpa/lhe) – A new hazardous materials warehouse has been put into operation in Frankfurt’s Industriepark Höchst. Around 35 million euros were invested in the construction, according to the operator of the Infraserv chemical park. Around 21,500 pallets with various hazardous materials can be stored in the 16,500 square meter building, which is 220 meters long.
The construction of the digitized warehouse took 18 months. “A large chemical and pharmaceutical site like Industriepark Höchst needs a modern hazardous materials store as a fundamental part of a logistics infrastructure,” said Infraserv Managing Director Jürgen Vormann. The warehouse strengthens the company as a logistics hub in the Rhine-Main region. The new building is also designed for the special storage of chemical, pharmaceutical and health products. This means that hazardous substances or pharmaceutical products can be stored at low and high temperatures.
High safety standards apply to the camp, it said. The storage areas are divided into nine structurally separate sections, into which large quantities of extinguishing foam can penetrate within a few minutes. In this way, no danger can emanate from combustible materials.
