Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) – The wife of the deposed Frankfurt Mayor Peter Feldmann (SPD) is not being investigated for accepting an advantage. There are no investigations “since she is not a public official,” said the spokeswoman for the Frankfurt public prosecutor’s office, Nadja Niesen, on Tuesday of the dpa.

The Frankfurt district court sentenced the former mayor to a fine last week for accepting benefits in two cases. The proceedings concerned Feldmann’s close ties to Arbeiterwohlfahrt (Awo). At a dinner in 2014 with the then Awo special representative Hannelore Richter, Feldmann’s girlfriend at the time and later wife received a promise of employment as head of a German-Turkish Awo daycare center despite a lack of qualifications and professional experience. She received an above-average salary, plus a bogus mini-job and a company car.

Aid for accepting benefits is also out of the question in this case, said Niesen, “because it could not be proven that she subjectively recognized that an unlawful agreement was concluded between Hannelore R. and Peter F. in connection with the promise of employment as head of the daycare center. ” Insofar as she was promised and paid an excessive salary, there is no evidence that she was involved in a criminal way.
