Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) – The opposition factions of the FDP and SPD want to sue the Hessian state court against the organization of police training in the state. They have doubts as to whether the state government’s law establishing the Hessian University for Public Management and Security is constitutional. The application for norm control is to be submitted to the State Court of Justice today.
The state government had bundled the training and further education of the police at the university since this year, and the corresponding law was passed in 2021. In particular, the opposition fears that academic freedom at the new university, which is also a police authority, will fall by the wayside.
