Kassel (dpa/lhe) – Thanks to a GPS tracker, the police in Kassel confiscated ten stolen bicycles worth around 40,000 euros. The 25-year-old owner had located his stolen pedelec and informed the officials of its location, as the police announced on Friday. The position of the bike, which was stolen during a burglary at the end of May, led the investigators on Tuesday to a small van in the northern part of Kassel. After the officers confiscated the car and found the 47-year-old owner, they found eight high-quality pedelecs, a racing bike and a city bike in it.
The owner of the van is now being investigated for commercial stolen goods and theft of the bicycles. Most of the bicycles found have already been assigned to thefts in Kassel. The owners should get their bikes back in a timely manner.
