Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) – In the first half of 2022, significantly more than half of the electricity generated in Hesse was generated from renewable energy sources. According to the Ministry of Economics, the share was 58 percent, compared to almost 50 percent in the entire previous year. “The proportion of renewable energy generated in Hesse has doubled over the past ten years,” explained Economics Minister Tarek Al-Wazir (Greens) at the presentation of the Energy Monitoring Report 2022 in Wiesbaden on Wednesday. “And the trend will continue.”
There is currently a strong increase in photovoltaic systems in Hesse. “2022 will be a record year for solar energy,” Al-Wazir said. In the first half of the year, new photovoltaic capacity was already added on the same scale as in the whole of 2021.
After a weaker wind year in 2021, the generation of energy from Hessian wind turbines also increased sharply in the first half of 2022, it said. Accordingly, the power feed-in from wind was 22 percent above the previous year’s value.
