Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) – Because he operated a larger cannabis plantation and also supplied his 15-year-old daughter with the drugs, a 43-year-old man was sentenced to 14 months’ probation on Wednesday by the Frankfurt Regional Court. In 2019, the police discovered around 100 cannabis plants ready for harvest in the accused’s apartment. In court, he said he was dependent on cannabis to treat a schizophrenic illness and had grown the plants for that reason alone. The verdict is not yet legally binding.
An expert confirmed to the court that no other medications were effective for the defendant’s illness. However, this did not change the criminal liability of the plantation or the passing on of the drugs to his daughter – the court and public prosecutor’s office, however, decided in favor of a correspondingly mild suspended sentence.
