Wiesbaden (dpa / lhe) – Officials have secured eight puppies of the American Bully XL breed in a Wiesbaden apartment. The city of Wiesbaden announced on Wednesday that there had been a tip from the population beforehand. The animals were kept in a completely darkened room and behind a barrier in a space that was far too small. The room was severely overheated and the floor was heavily soiled with faeces and urine, and there was neither water nor food for the puppies.
The dog owner initially refused the employees of the regulatory office and the office for veterinary and consumer protection access to the apartment, the city said. Only after threatening to force the apartment open did he let her in. The list dog puppies were seized because they were not kept in a species-appropriate manner and were housed in an animal shelter. The owner is now subject to a ban on keeping and caring for animals. The mother animal is currently in a different place, should also no longer be kept and must be handed over to the authorities, it said.
