Hanau (dpa/lhe) – Because of a gas leak, there was a large-scale operation by the fire brigade in downtown Hanau. The city announced that several houses within a radius of around 150 meters had been cleared on Tuesday and around 60 people had to leave their homes or jobs. City officials were also affected. A considerable amount of gas escaped through the defective pipe in a building, and no one was injured. The gas line was closed and the fire brigade ventilated the building with special machines. Several buses had to be diverted during the three-hour operation.
