Kassel (dpa/lhe) – The Kassel City Museum has received personal objects belonging to the politician Philipp Scheidemann (1865-1939). Born in Kassel, he was the first Chancellor of the Weimar Republic as a Social Democrat. Scheidemann’s great-great-granddaughter Marion Pirschel presented the museum with two suits, a pair of glasses, a gold ring and a pocket watch, as well as two drawings and a portrait. The city announced on Tuesday that all of the objects had been carefully preserved in family ownership for decades. The objects are to be presented to the public in the city museum in the coming year.
