Willingen (dpa / lhe) – In northern Hesse, thousands of Christians celebrated a traditional alphorn mass. Around 60 alphorn players and numerous music groups, singers and bands from Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands came to the ecumenical service on Sunday on Willinger Ettelsberg, as organizer Siggi von der Heide said. He spoke of at least 4,000 to 5,000 participants who had made their way to the fair in bright sunshine. The landlord of the Ettelsberghütte organizes the mountain service together with the Catholic parish of St. Augustinus Willingen and the Protestant parish of Willingen.

After two years under Corona conditions, the fair could be celebrated again without restrictions for the first time. At 8:00 a.m., numerous alphorns were already calling for the mass to be held later on the 838-metre-high Ettelsberg. According to the hut host, the event has been around for almost 30 years.
