Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) – Because he attacked two young people playing with an iron bar and threatened them with a pistol, a 70-year-old pensioner in Frankfurt had to pay a fine of 300 euros. The Frankfurt district court issued a warning on Tuesday for dangerous bodily harm and threats. A fine of 3,600 euros (180 daily rates) was suspended on probation if the fine was met. The decision is not yet final. (File number 4687 Js 227418/21).

A group of four young people played football in front of the apartment building in Frankfurt-Praunheim. When the ball was shot onto a balcony, the two 17-year-olds climbed onto the patio to retrieve the ball. They damaged a cat net belonging to the pensioner. He got so angry that he attacked the young people with a metal bracket and took the no longer working gun out of the closet. After the incident, the man suffered from acute heart problems and had to be treated by an emergency doctor. The police were there shortly afterwards because neighbors had complained about rampaging young people.

In court, the defendant admitted the incident. The magistrate saw the light sentence as appropriate in view of the overall circumstances. The original charge of illegal gun ownership was dropped because the pistol no longer worked.
