Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) – Two people were injured in a deflagration and subsequent fire in a residential building in Wiesbaden. The bungalow in the district of Nordenstadt was badly damaged by the explosion on Thursday morning. The fire brigade reported a “picture of destruction”. According to the information, windows and doors were blown out. A 56-year-old woman suffered severe burn injuries and was taken to a hospital. A 66-year-old man suffered minor injuries.

How the explosion came about was initially unclear. According to the fire brigade, it is assumed that gas escaped from a line and accumulated under the residential building. A defective gas line was discovered outside the building. Firefighters turned off the gas supply and extinguished the flames in the living room. Measurements in the vicinity of the house subsequently showed no increased gas values. Information on the extent of the damage was not initially available.
