Spangenberg (dpa / lhe) – A fire broke out on a farm in Spangenberg (Schwalm-Eder district) early Monday morning. A police spokesman said there was a fire in the attic and first floor of the apartment building. Two residents, an 88-year-old woman and a 34-year-old man, left the house themselves and were taken to the hospital with mild smoke inhalation. The fire brigade was able to prevent the flames from spreading to an adjacent barn. The fire was extinguished in the morning.
According to the police spokesman, the property damage is estimated at around 400,000 euros. The cause of the fire is still unclear. Several media had previously reported.
