Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) – People in Hesse have to be prepared for frosty temperatures at the weekend, but can also look forward to winter sun. On Saturday morning it was still foggy and cloudy and “uncomfortably cold,” said a meteorologist from the German Weather Service (DWD) on Friday. In southern Hesse, in particular, it was mostly sunny and dry – with temperatures of a maximum of minus five to zero degrees. According to the DWD, roads that freeze over and the formation of frost could cause slippery roads.
In the night on Sunday it cools down again to minus 6 to minus 12 degrees, according to the expert. In valleys, even minus 15 degrees are possible locally. Over the course of the day clouds will appear before freezing rain is to be expected in the evening. At the beginning of the week, the DWD warns of a significant risk of black ice. On Monday, the temperatures will finally rise to a milder two to six degrees.
